We Can Build
A Better Us

A YMCA Testimonial

“I’ve missed this room. I became a different person in this room 4 years ago when I started taking kettlebell class. I was introduced to this thing called group exercise. I fell in love with it. The sense of community, all the “regulars” that went to the same class as me, the welcoming feeling, and seeing not only my transformation but the people around me too! Fast forward two years or so, I wanted to do more. I grew to love this old building they called the Y. I feel like i...t’s this hidden gem and so many people don’t know what’s inside. Anyway, it was my gym. My home away from home, and I wanted to contribute. So, I began instructing classes, HIIT and Cross Train. Ummm hello, not only did I enjoy taking classes, but turns out I enjoy teaching them too. From there a door opened and I landed the best career. A career where I not only get to instruct classes and push people to be the best version of themselves (yes, this is a real thing not just a cool phrase), but also lead a bomb team of other instructors who are just as passionate as me. I also get to be on a team whose main focus is the community, our community. After all, we’re for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility (in case you didn’t know 😉). Anyway, last time I was in this room as an instructor, I was very pregnant, and what a blessing that was ❤️. But today, it felt so good to be back at it. I’m not where I was, I’m not where I want to be, but I’m me. This is me today. Full of love, gratitude, and a fiery passion to get people get moving. So, friends, take a chance and come see what we do at the Y. Take a class, workout on your own, bring your kid to a camp, take a swim, whatever it is, you’ll see what I mean.”
